The palm beach of Vai

The palm beach of Vai is located at the eastern end of Crete 20 km from Sitia. It is an exotic part , a Scenic . Its extent strematon and extends throughout the length and breadth of the small valley that ends in sandy beach and sea with turquoise waters .
   There are many legends about its origins. It is said created palms against a glorified apoktisan firstly the Itanos while other versions created by KOUKOU Chow Dates Egyptians soldiers who ate the epidromeis the Saracen pirates . Το Φοινικοδασος του Βαι βρισκεται στο ανατολικο ακρο της Κρητης 20 χλμ απο τη Σητεια. Ειναι ενα εξοτικο μερος, μια περιοχη φυσικου καλλους . Εχει εκταση  στρεματον και εκτεινεται σε ολο το μηκος και πλατος μικρης κοιλαδας που καταληγει σε αμμουδερη παραλια και θαλασσα με γαλαζοπρασινα νερα.
   Πολλοι θρυλοι υπαρχουν για την προελευση του. Λεγετε οτι το δημιουργησαν Φοινικες που κατα μια δοξασια αποκτισαν πρωτοι την Ιτανο ενω κατα αλλες εκδοχες δημιουργηθηκε απο κουκου τσια Χουρμαδων που ετρωγαν Αιγυπτιοι στρατιωτες ,η Σαρακηνοι πειρατες η επηδρομεις. Οπιος και αν ειναι ο λογος εμφανισης του Φοινικοδασους Βαι ,το βεβαιο ειναι οτι η αναπτυξη και η διατηρηση του οφειλεται στο ξηροθερμικο κλιμα και το υπογειο νερο της κοιλαδας . Η ΟΝΟΜΑΣΙΑ ΤΟΥ ΠΡΟΕΡΧΕΤΑΙ ΑΠΟ ΤΗΝ ΤΟΠΙΚΗ διαλεκτο συμφονα με την οπια οι φοινικες λεγονται Βαγιες η Βαγια- Βαι.

   Αποτελειται απο αυτοφυεις φοινικες του Θεοφραστου (phoenix Theofrasti)και ειναι το μοναδικο φοινικοδασος στην Ελλαδα και Ευρωπη.Σε καμια αλλη περιοχη της Ευρωπης δεν υπαρχει κατι αντιστοικο σε μεγεθος και σε ομορφια.
   Ημοναδικοτητα του ειναι και ο λογος που εχει χαρακτηριστει ενα απο τα   Αισθητικα  Δαση της Ελλαδας και που το 1973 ενταχθηκε στην κατηγορια προστατυομενων φυσικον περιοχων . Το Φοινικοδασος Βαι ειναι ενα μοναδικο μερος που πραγματικα αξιζει να επισκεφθειτε.

Makrigialo

The Makrigialos is a well-known seaside resort on the south - eastern Crete , in Lasithi . Maybe you know him as Makrigialos , although in recent years the residents are trying to establish the name Long - Gialos , because many confuse village in southern Crete with another in Northern Greece .
      While going through this road through Makrigialos from Ierapetra to Sitia perhaps not impressed . You might assume that this is yet another village which has no reason to stop . Moving yet further along to the east, the view over the bay of Makrigialos is unique and reveals the beauty and sweetness of the village, with its small harbor and great beach.



The name itself Makrigialos reveals its main advantage , as it is a large bay with a beautiful sandy beach which extends to a total length of more than one kilometer .
 What makes Makrigialos special?

       Because Makrigialos is a popular tourist destination in Crete ; Because Makrigialos beaches are beautiful with clean and shallow waters , good food , good enough nightlife for its size , but also a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that makes visitors feel pleasantly from scratch.
    Also those who have a boat , you must know that the Makrigialos has a picturesque harbor , sheltered and safe .
     The Makrigialos is a place suitable for both couples and families. It is an area with very few large hotels but many apartments and studios for travelers who want peace, quiet and more privacy.

   How to go to Makrigialos?


     Makri Gialos is located 38km south of Sitia and 25km east of Ierapetra in the south - east of Lasithi . Hardly anyone stands on the borders of the logs and the Ascension , two coastal villages to the west and east .
     The road from Ierapetra to Makrigialos is very good, with a few turns , and offers excellent views of the various beaches and settlements overtake heading to Makrigialos .
Instead, the road from Sitia to Makrigialos passes through the inland villages of Lassithi , a very beautiful way , as the area is quite green .
    A tip : Open the window when you drive from Sitia to Makrigialos : the road is full of thyme and sfakes ( the characteristic plant of Lassithi called and oleander ) . The smell of the air will charm you , and is probably the most characteristic smell of Crete anyway .
      To get to Makrigialos from the airport or the port of Heraklion , you have to drive to Agios Nikolaos , Ierapetra and then from there to Makrigialos . The distance is 125 kilometers and will take about 2 hours to
