Palekastro

The village is located at the eastern end of the island. This simple village Cretan countryside with 1300 inhabitants, has almost no influence from the invasion of mass tourism , despite its beautiful beaches nearby, where you can enjoy swimming, fishing and water sports.

The traditional factor mixed harmoniously with the modern, offering visitors the comfort of today and the thoughtlessness of the past.

Palekastro is rich in archaeological sites and history. (Archaeological sites ) . It also has a folklore museum.

It also has many tavernas and restaurants serving traditional food . In some of them you can also find fresh fish anytime. Should not be missed ! You can also enjoy your coffee or ice cream at one of the cafes in the square . For lovers of night life , there are two to three bars.

In the village you can also find stores for shopping. Has a clinic , pharmacy and post office. The village is also the town hall of the municipality Itanou .

It is ideal to use as a base for exploring the eastern Crete. Although winter tourism is not yet sufficiently developed , Palekastro is one of the most relevant passages of this kind of tourism.
